The Khabarovsky Krai is located in the centre of the Far East of Russia. Land, sea and air transport routes run through its territory and connect Russian cities with the Pacific Ocean coasts and sea ports and countries of CIS and Western Europe with the ones of Asia Pacific Region.
The Khabarovsky Krai is one of the biggest regions in the Russian Federation. The distance to Moscow is 8533km by train and 6075 by air. The significant parts of the Khabarovsky Krai are mountain covered forests. The Khabarovsky Krai has an abundance of natural resources - land, water, forest and other biological resources including numerous minerals that are found throughout its territory.
The climate of the Khabarovsky Krai is primarily monsoonal and varies from the north to the south, and likewise depends on relief and sea vicinity. Sunny weather with strong frosts and frequent winds is typical for winter. The coastal frosts are milder but winds are regular. Summer is rather hot and humid. The beginning of March is when the climate shifts towards springs that lasts for several months and are known for temperature inconsistency. In autumn the weather is dry and warm.
One of the grates rivers in the world – the Amur – flows through this land.
The exploration of Far Eastern territories began from the 17 century. Russian explorers came to the East to discover new lands. The Khabarovsky Krai was founded in the 20th of October in 1938 during separation of the Far Eastern Krai with centre in Khabarovsk city.
The Khabarovsky Krai is the crossing of European and Asian cultures, that is specially shown in the infrastructure of the greatest tourist centre of the Krai.
